What Michael treats — and where

Two decades of chiropractic plus lifestyle coaching. Sees patients at the Camden and Dover clinic.

This is about Michael specifically: the complaints that come through this schedule most often, how they get worked up, and which office to book.

The short version

How Michael works a case

Dr. Michael Giambertone practices at Pure Wellness Camden and Dover, 4608 S Dupont Hwy Unit 3, Dover.

Dr. Michael Giambertone joined Pure Wellness in 2019 with more than two decades of chiropractic and wellness experience. He sees patients at the Camden and Dover clinic and is licensed in Delaware and New York.

He uses Diversified, Cox distraction, Activator, and instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization, and spent over 11 years as a professional health and lifestyle coach.

Every new case starts the same way regardless of what hurts: history, posture screening, measured range of motion, and a hands-on exam. That takes 60 to 90 minutes, and it is the part that decides everything else. A stiff joint, an irritated disc, and a muscle guarding an old injury can all present as “my back hurts” and none of the three should be treated the same way.

Once the exam is done, Michael picks from Diversified, Cox Flexion-Distraction, Activator Methods, Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilisation. If a technique is not appropriate for your age, bone density, or injury, you will be told why and given the alternative rather than the standard adjustment.

If your case is not a chiropractic case, you will hear that too. Referring out is part of the exam, not a failure of it.

When to come in, and when to go somewhere else first

Most musculoskeletal pain is worth an exam once it has outlasted a week of sensible self-care, or sooner if it is stopping you sleeping, working, or driving comfortably. Waiting is not virtuous. The cases that take longest to resolve are usually the ones that were left for three months on the theory that they would sort themselves out, by which point the original problem has been joined by compensations in the joints above and below it.

There is a short list that should go to urgent or emergency care rather than to a chiropractic table, and Michael would rather you knew it before you book. Loss of bladder or bowel control, numbness through the saddle region, or rapidly worsening weakness in a leg needs an emergency department the same day. So does significant trauma with an inability to bear weight, or new severe pain alongside fever, unexplained weight loss, or a history of cancer. Chest pain or a sudden worst-ever headache is a medical emergency and not a spinal complaint until a doctor has said otherwise.

Short of that list, the exam is the deciding step rather than the phone call. Plenty of what walks in turns out to be mechanical and responds well. Some of it does not, and the useful outcome of a first visit is sometimes a referral to a physician, imaging, physical therapy, or a specialist. You are not charged more for the answer you did not want, and Michael would rather send you to the right place in week one than treat you unsuccessfully for six.

What the first few weeks usually look like

After the exam you get a plan with a number attached: how many visits Michael expects this to take, what should be measurably different by when, and what the re-check will look at. Uncomplicated mechanical cases often turn inside two to four weeks. Longstanding problems, disc involvement, and injury cases run longer, and you will be told that up front rather than discovering it at visit twelve.

Visit frequency starts higher and tapers. That is not a sales structure, it is how irritated tissue behaves — early on the effect of a treatment fades before the next one, and as the joint holds its correction the gap between visits stretches. If your gap is not stretching by the re-check, that is a signal the plan is wrong, and the plan changes.

Homework is part of it. Two or three specific movements, done most days, matter more to the durability of the result than any single adjustment. The patients who keep their gains are almost always the ones who did the unglamorous five minutes rather than the ones who came in most often.

Documented results

What Camden & Dover actually records

The Dover office has 216 treatment outcomes published on ChiropracticResults.com, an independent register that records the condition treated, the pain score at intake, and the score at discharge. Across those documented cases the average improvement is 90%, with pain moving from 8.5/10 to 1.2/10.

Those are clinic figures covering every doctor at Camden & Dover, not Michael’s personal statistics, and averages are not a promise about your case. They are simply a number you can check against a source we do not control.
